How Many Pages Should a Company Profile Be? A Practical Guide for Kenyan Businesses

It is one of the first questions every business owner asks when they decide it is time to get a professional company profile done. And it is a question that does not have a single right answer — because the right page count depends entirely on who you are, who you are talking to, and what you need the document to achieve.

What this guide will do is give you a clear framework for making that decision, based on real profiles we have designed for businesses across Kenya — from lean 8-page SME profiles to 37-page credentials bibles built to compete in the boardrooms of Safaricom and KCB Bank.

The Right Page Count Depends on Your Company Type and Audience

Before you decide on a number, answer these three questions honestly.

Who is reading this profile? A procurement officer at a large corporation has seen hundreds of company profiles and will spend less than ninety seconds on yours before deciding whether to keep reading. A small business owner looking for a reliable supplier will read more carefully but wants clarity over volume. A diaspora investor evaluating a real estate opportunity needs comprehensive information before committing money from abroad. Each of these readers has a different tolerance for length and a different definition of what "thorough" looks like.

What is this profile competing against? If you are pitching against established corporates with 30-page credentials documents, an 8-page profile will feel thin regardless of how well it is designed. If you are pitching to SMEs who just want to know you are credible and competent, a 30-page profile will feel like overkill and may never get read at all.

How much substance do you actually have? This is the question most people avoid. Page count should be driven by content, not by a desire to appear substantial. A 20-page profile with 8 pages of genuine content padded to fill space is worse than a tight 10-page profile where every page earns its place. Empty pages are not neutral — they actively damage your credibility.

8–12 Pages: The Sweet Spot for Most Kenyan SMEs

For the majority of small and medium businesses in Kenya, an 8 to 12 page company profile is the right call. It is long enough to cover every essential section — cover, about us, services, portfolio, client logos, team, and contact — without asking more of the reader than they are willing to give.

This length works particularly well for businesses that are still building their client roster, businesses pitching to other SMEs or individual buyers, and businesses where the founder is the primary sales relationship and the profile is a supporting document rather than the main pitch.

At this length, every page needs to pull its weight. There is no room for a full-page quote, a decorative spread that carries no information, or a services section that lists twenty offerings without explaining any of them. Tight, clear, confident.

A well-designed 10-page profile from a credible agency will outperform a cluttered 25-page self-made document every single time. The design is doing as much work as the content.

16–24 Pages: The Corporate Company Profile

Once your business has a meaningful track record — multiple industries served, a recognisable client list, a team worth introducing, and a portfolio worth showing — the 16 to 24 page range gives you the space to make a proper case.

This is the range where case studies start to earn their own spreads rather than being squeezed into a single portfolio page. Where services can be broken into categories with genuine explanations. Where a "why us" section can be built with enough evidence to be convincing rather than just assertive.

This length is appropriate for businesses pitching to mid-size corporates, businesses in competitive industries where differentiation needs to be argued rather than assumed, and businesses where multiple stakeholders will review the profile before a decision is made.

30+ Pages: When a Credentials Bible Is the Right Move

A credentials bible is a different document category entirely. It is not a company profile that got long — it is a deliberate, comprehensive statement of institutional capability designed for high-stakes procurement contexts.

The Jayden Limited profile we designed is the clearest example in our portfolio. At 37 pages it covers the agency's philosophy, service categories, full activation case studies with photography, a complete client logo wall featuring Safaricom, Samsung, KCB Bank, UN Women, UNDP, and Huawei, team profiles, and a closing argument that is more closing submission than sales pitch.

That length is justified because Jayden competes for contracts where the buyer's risk is significant — large-scale brand activations, government-adjacent events, international organisation campaigns. At that level, a short profile does not signal confidence. It signals that the agency does not have enough to say.

The 30+ page range is appropriate for established agencies and consultancies pitching for large contracts, businesses tendering for government or parastatal work, companies seeking investment or formal partnerships, and any business where the buyer needs to present the profile internally to a committee before a decision is made.

The Page Counts of Our Portfolio — Real Examples

Rather than abstract advice, here is exactly what we built and why for each client.

CP Digital Kenya — Own agency profile. Structured around the Sell, Brand, Communicate framework with internal case studies. Length calibrated to demonstrate range without overwhelming a prospective client who may only need one service.

Jayden Limited — 37 pages. Full credentials bible for a major experiential marketing agency competing at corporate and institutional level. Every page justified by genuine content.

Epic Properties — Corporate developer profile. Built to communicate scale, reliability, and investment security to buyers and financial partners. Nine completed blocks and 700+ apartments sold gives them genuine substance to fill the page count.

The Epic Iconic Prospectus — Standalone investor document. Diaspora-targeted, USD-priced, 18-month payment plan explained in full. This required additional pages because the audience is making a significant financial decision remotely and needs comprehensive reassurance before they act.

iLife Solutions — Government-facing credentials. Institutional tone, formal structure, certifications and client logos given prominent space. Government procurement contexts have expectations about document format that a shorter profile would not meet.

VervePro Consulting — Six productized services. The challenge was giving a consultancy the feel of a product company. The page count was driven by the need to explain each service clearly enough that a buyer could self-select without needing a sales call first.

Kiti Design Co. — Catalogue-style profile. A furniture brand where the products are the argument. The page count followed the product categories — sofas, sectionals, beds, dressers, coffee tables — with the philosophy established in the first few pages before the catalogue begins.

What CP Digital Recommends Based on Our Portfolio

If you came to us today and asked for a recommendation, here is what we would tell you based on everything we have built.

Start with the audience, not the ambition. A 10-page profile that gets read is worth more than a 30-page profile that gets filed. If you are an SME pitching to other businesses in Kenya, 10 to 14 pages is almost always the right call. If you are going after corporate contracts or institutional buyers, build toward 20 to 30 pages but only if you have the content to fill it honestly.

Never pad. If you reach your target page count and find yourself adding decorative spreads to hit the number, stop. Cut the page count instead. A shorter, denser, better-designed profile will always outperform a longer, thinner one.

And finally — get the design right before you worry about the length. A beautifully designed 8-page profile communicates more credibility than a poorly designed 25-page one. The design is not decoration. It is the first argument your business makes.
